Trinity International University opens Norton Welcome Center

Deerfield, Ill. - Trinity International University has opened a welcome center that will be a convenient first stop for prospective students and their families who visit campus.

The Norton Welcome Center will house the admissions teams for undergraduate, graduate, REACH and online adult degree completion programs as well as the admissions operations team. It is located on the left (east) side of the Half Day Road entrance, along Trinity University Drive.

The new facility is equipped with rooms for admission interviews, a presentation room for larger groups and a small store that will sell Trinity-branded items such as shirts and jackets. Campus tours will be initiated from the center.

"We are grateful to all who have made this wonderful facility possible," said Rich Grimm, senior vice president for university services and strategic initiatives. "It will be a great resource for us as we tell the Trinity story to prospective students interested in any of the many programs offered on our Deerfield campus."

The center was dedicated during a visit from the board of regents for their February meetings. Among those in attendance was H. Wilbert Norton, who served as Trinity's president from 1957-64. His leadership was instrumental in moving the institution to its current campus.

"It is appropriate that our new campus 'front door' bears the name of someone who was so instrumental in making this place our home more than half a century ago," President David S. Dockery said. "Dr. Norton's heart for missions and for the global church continues to influence the Trinity community."

Norton celebrated his 100th birthday just a few days prior to the dedication. Members of his immediate family also attended the ceremony.
