Vikes have filled 33,000-plus seats for 2016 at new stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Ticket sales for the new Minnesota Vikings stadium have been brisk.

Commitments have already been made by ticket buyers to fill more than 33,300 seats at the 65,000-seat stadium. The Vikings made the announcement Wednesday, one year to the date of the opening of their preview center across the street from the construction site.

About 70 percent of season ticket holders from 2013, which was the team's final year at the Metrodome, have signed up for 2016. That's when the new venue is set to open. Seat selection for those who've joined the wait list will begin later this month.

The Vikings will play one more season at TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota.
