Vanessa-Mae attends CAS appeal in Olympic ski fixing case

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) - Pop violinist Vanessa-Mae has appeared at sport's highest court to appeal her 4-year ban for helping to fix Sochi Olympic qualifying races in Alpine skiing.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport says Vanessa-Mae attended the all-day hearing to challenge a ban imposed by the International Ski Federation.

A court ruling is expected in at least several weeks.

The musician appealed to annul the ban and overturn a FIS decision to wipe four qualifying races in Slovenia from the record.

A FIS tribunal judged that Vanessa Mae colluded in rigging races and results to improve her racer status ahead of the qualifying deadline last January.

Vanessa Mae competed at age 35 for her father's native Thailand in Sochi, finishing last of 67 racers in giant slalom.
