Grizzlies suspend Tony Allen for game against Utah

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis guard Tony Allen was suspended for Tuesday night's game against the Utah Jazz for violating team policy.

Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger announced the one-game suspension in his media availability before the game. Joerger did not elaborate on the policy Allen violated. He said it was an isolated incident, and he expects Allen and the team will move forward after the suspension.

In addition to Allen's absence, starting forward Zach Randolph, the Grizzlies leading rebounder, and reserve guard Beno Udrih also will miss the game due to illness.

Allen, who averages 8.1 points and 4 rebounds, has keyed Memphis' second unit since moving to the bench after the team's trade for Jeff Green in mid-January. Known for his defense, Allen has recorded a steal in each of the last 13 games, including eight with multiple steals.
