Rockford man faces charges in January killing of wife

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - A Rockford man is facing charges of first-degree murder in the death of his 46-year-old wife.

The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/1M5a2af ) reports the Winnebago County State's Attorney's office brought the murder charges against 44-year-old John C. Boose. He has been in jail on unrelated domestic battery charges since Jan. 31.

Authorities say Regina Boose died after she was taken to a hospital Jan. 30. They say she died from blunt force trauma.

John C. Boose's bond is set at $1 million. Ryan Swift, an attorney representing Boose, says Boose entered a plea of not guilty at a court hearing Tuesday. Swift says an arraignment date has not been set.
