Glen Ellyn police warn of scam

Glen Ellyn police are asking residents to be cautious after the home of elderly residents was burglarized by men claiming to be employees of "power and light."

Police were called to the home Monday to investigate the burglary. Three men identifying as employees of "power and light" had come up to the residents and said they needed access to the basement, according to a news release.

After entering the home, two of the men distracted the residents while the third stole jewelry from the master bedroom.

The suspects fled in what was described as a green 2007 Buick Rendezvous. Police say residents should ask for identification from utility workers who want access to their homes.
