Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I have always been a frequent patron of the library. I watched the library grow from a little white house to the institution it is today. I introduced my children to the library when they were young and enrolled them in library programs. In 1998, when my youngest child was in first grade, I acquired a position at the library. The positions I held were page, circulation clerk, administration clerk, and administration/business office supervisor. During my employment, I had the opportunity to have input on improvements, technological advances, new programs, and the day to day running of the library. I retired after 15 years of service to spend more time with my growing family. I have the time and experience to be a library board member and to contribute to the growth and development of the library. If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.Candidate did not respond.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?I have had a library card since I was in third grade and have used it frequently.Space is an issue at many libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.Candidate did not respond. What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change? The Antioch District Library strives to be current with technological advancements. The staff is constantly researching various data bases that card holders can access from home, get homework help online, download music, and check out eBooks to name a few. Programs teaching Microsoft Office are offered as well as how to use an eReader. I think if libraries continue to enhance the use of technology, offer programming relevant to the community, and have current information and books readily available for patrons they will be an integral resource within the community. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Candidate did not respond. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Candidate did not respond. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Candidate did not respond. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Candidate did not respond. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Candidate did not respond.
