Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?With the Board of Commisioners oversight and under the leadership of our Executive Director and Park District staff, our Park District is in a very good place financially and operates programs that serve the community while maintaining fiscal responsibility. The Board and I work with the Executive Director to determine which programs to keep, eliminate, or change.Is there any additional open space the park district needs to acquire? Please describe.We have recently acquired the property on the corner of Rt. 53 Rt. 56 allowing the Park District to provide open space to the community as well as improve the current Recreational facility. Additional open space is limited given the footprint of the Park District.Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them? Or, should they wait until the economy improves?Our Executive Director and staff are continuing to look for programs and activities that fulfill the needs of the community. The Board and I are continuing to seek programming to fulfill the needs of our Senior citizens as well as our teenage population. The Board and I work with the Executive Director to determine the fiscally responsible way to pay for recreational needs.Would you support sharing/pooling resources (i.e. printing, vehicles) with other local governments (school districts, village, etc.)? If so, what areas would you consider combining or merging to save money or improve efficiency?Yes, and as a matter of record the Butterfield Park District has inter-governmental agreements with several of the schools within the Park District boundaries to provide services and affordable cost-sharing programs. Our Park District also has an agreement with the village of Downers Grove to improve efficiencies and provide savings to Downers Grove and the Butterfield Park District patrons.If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.As an incumbent member of the Board, I had a leadership role in the recent campaign supporting the Referendum seeking monies to improve the Park District facilities and to acquire the property located on the corner of Rt. 53 Rt. 56. Additionally, as Board President, I was involved with the recent improvements at Hoffman and Kensington parks.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Going forward the Board of Commissioners and I will be working with the community overseeing the usage of the Referendum monies. Additionally, the PD has been awarded $750,000 in OSLAD funds to further improve and develop PD facilities. The Board and I will be working with the Executive Director, Staff, and the community to use these monies judiciously.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Pope FrancisWhat's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Treating everyone with respect.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I have no regrets nor do I wish to wonder about life's "what ifs".What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Mathematics. It put me on the road to study Engineering in college and onto my career path.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Live life to its fullest and don't look back or second-guess what might have been.
