Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Property taxes are high. It the same everywhere. The Village of Fox Lake gets a very small portion of property taxes. Sales tax? We have looked at a program to increase but as a board decided against it.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? We have a great police and fire department. Police department is involved in community policing and has a presence in the schools. Fire department is a fire district with their own board.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The police budget is always high. Necessarily so. I would like to look into our 911 program this year and see if we can save some money by attracting new users. If not were going to have to review the entire program. Thankfully, we have a new Village Administrator who is going to hold a budget workshop the elected officials and staff will all attend to address all line items in the budget. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?We have been talking the same idea's here in Fox Lake for a decade. We just need to find a way to make things happen. Its not just money. A community has to be willing to move forward. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? This year Fox Lake received a grant from the state of Illinois for redevelopment of our Lakefront Park building. That park was purchased when I was the Mayor and until this grant we have had very little money for redevelopment. I am very excited for the people of Fox Lake to finally be able to make some needed improvements. We are planning among other things a spray park for the kids and an upgraded interior complete with athletic flooring and locker rooms. We have created a program guide showcasing our various programs and events. I hope to see this grow with the updates to the Lakefront Park I feel we can add and enhance our current program guide. I also want to see the 4th of July fireworks come back to Fox Lake! Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Candidate did not respond. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Candidate did not respond. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Candidate did not respond. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Candidate did not respond.
