I believe in Bartlett, this is our home. This is where my wife and I raised our children and this is where we intend to stay. I believe you must give something back and that's what I plan on doing only in a different capacity. In addition to my other community involvements I believe my 30 plus years of service on the Bartlett Plan Commission and serving under six Village Presidents allows me to bring experience and knowledge to the board and our residents. For the most part we all share the same concerns. I intend to work on behalf of the residents to the very best of my ability. I strongly believe in "Progress with Pride" and intend to continue on this journey. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Obviously, our property taxes are too high. It is well known that U-46 makes up the majority of our tax bill and unfortunately so much of this is out of our control. There should be a better way of funding education. I believe our current board has made tremendous progress in holding the line and reducing our village tax levy, but we still need to accomplish more. I pledge to earnestly continue efforts to achieve this goal.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I believe our village's fire district and police do an outstanding job and I sincerely thank them for their dedication and service. I believe in the next decade we must consider improvements with the police station/offices, specifically the size of the building and communications systems.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Can we do better? We need to continue to consolidate and look for more efficiencies. As previously stated I believe our current board has made tremendous progress in reducing our village tax levy. In my opinion they are directing the residents tax dollars well and continuing the services we expect and deserve. I will continue in these efforts, but I know we can do better. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?We should consider a community garden with the food divided equally between the Hanover and Wayne Township Food Pantries. If this were possible I already have some volunteers. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? We need to continue to grow and strengthen the economy of Bartlett. Additional industrial and retail/commercial businesses would stabilize or possibly reduce our tax levy, which would preserve and improve our quality of life. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.I have to name two, Senator Mark Kirk and Representative Tammy Duckworth for overcoming their physical limitations. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Work hard and you'll be rewarded. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Investing more wisely. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?World War II History - Don't make the same mistakes over and over again, life is precious. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Treat everyone fairly and with respect.
