What changes, if any, do you think need to be made?We can do much better. The students need to know who they are and appreciate the greatness of this country. One of the problems is the loss of state and local control of schools. District 211 needs to replace "common core," this is a teaching method that indoctrinates but does not educate. This is a nationalized educational system that ignores the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Instead of indoctrination, we need to teach students core values that validates a moral compass. Values such as: loyalty, duty, respect, service, honor, integrity and courage are critical in understanding the intent of our founding fathers. Common core does not allow critical thinking, common core tells you what to think. The schools are not educating our children on the threats of Islamic terrorism. The beheadings and killing of innocents by these barbarians must be discussed in class. The current issues of the day need to be addressed. Every student should read "American Sniper," to understand the heroics of our military. Students should read "Heroic Leadership" by Chris Lowney to understand that our Nation needs leadership that follow moral principles. Is the current collective bargaining agreement with teachers a good deal for the district? If yes, explain, where you see the district benefitting. If no, be specific about what you don't like and how it should be renegotiated the next time.Collective bargaining is not a good deal for the district, the cost keeps going up, yet the education is not improving. The district needs to hire a third party bargaining agent to negotiate a contract, board members or the superintendent should not be the key negotiators. What budgetary issues will your district have to confront during the next four years and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, be specific about programs and expenses that should be considered for reduction or elimination. On the income side, do you support any tax increases for local schools? Again, be specific.I am against a tax increase in district 211. The district needs to follow a 5 to 20 year strategic plan to decrease costs while maintaining a solid educational program. Replace common core with a less expensive more beneficial curriculum system. Common core will increase exponentially in the next few years, a cost that cannot be passed on to the middle class. Are all the high schools in District 211 treated equally, in your opinion? Explain why or why not, or where you think discrepancies lie.I have no reason to believe that the 5 high schools are treated differently. However, some students can learn more about discipline and about themselves. That is why, I support an Army junior ROTC program at Palatine High School, this will offer a volunatary program for students who are inspired to learn about leadership and the military. There are no obligations after high school. Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family - spouse, child or child-in-law - employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat? No.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Common core needs to be replaced. Common core ignores federal statutes such as FERPA of 1974 that protects the privacy of students. Common core plans to collect 400 data points on students including religious beliefs and political affiliation of parents. This is bordering on dictatorship. Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma and South Carolina withdrew from common core.Several states have begun to reclaim control of educational content, d211 should do the same. I suggest that every parent read Professor Moore's book "Story Killers."Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Governor Scott Walker. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Believe and have faith in God.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Fighting Islamic terrorism. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Biology, it helped me understand life.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Believe in yourself, have faith in God and love your country.
