Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I was born and raised in Elk Grove Village and grew up using the library and participating in the many great programs they offered. I would be honored to have the opportunity to now serve as a Library Trustee to help ensure the long term viability of this great community resource for future generations.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.I would actively engage with and solicit feedback from residents of Elk Grove Village. Listening to their needs and finding out what they would like the library to be for them will help to shape future programs, materials, and improvements to ensure the library remains valuable for every resident of the community.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?I do have a current library card which I have had, and utilized, for as long as I have been a resident of Elk Grove Village.Space is an issue at many libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.The Elk Grove Village Library has always done a great job at keeping the infrastructure modern and functional while maintaining a suitable balance between new technology and the rich history that only physical print can offer. Future capital improvement projects will need to keep this equilibrium in mind and do so in a fiscally responsible manner.What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?Libraries are among the most important and valuable resources of any community. They are an open and public place to safely meet, learn, and share ideas. By actively engaging the residents that they serve, libraries can remain relevant while adapting to the needs of an ever changing economy and community.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?It is important to me to ensure that the quality of service, resources, and programs that the Elk Grove Library provides to the community continues to expand and improve upon the exceptional level that has already been achieved.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.My father, the Mayor of Elk Grove Village Craig B.
