What's on deck today at spring training

What to watch for today at spring training:

___

TIME TO PLAY

It's opening day for the exhibition season, with the Philadelphia Phillies hosting the University of Tampa in the only game of the day. Paul Clemens starts for the Phils - he pitched parts of two years for Houston. Darin Ruf is set to bat cleanup for the Phillies at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Florida.

LOOSENING UP

AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber throws live batting practice for the first time this spring at Cleveland's camp in Goodyear, Arizona.

UMBRELLAS

The Kansas City Royals are among the teams scheduled to hold intrasquad games. But they may be forced indoors in Surprise, Arizona, because rain is in the forecast.

BE CAREFUL

With notable players from Chris Sale to Adam Wainwright and Melvin Upton already banged up, managers and GMs no doubt have fingers crossed that none of their key pieces get hurt during intrasquad games.
