No weapon found on man fatally shot by Terre Haute police

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police investigating the shooting death of a suspect by Terre Haute police officers say they found no weapon on him or inside his car.

State police are continuing to investigate the death Wednesday of 31-year-old Alexander Long of Terre Haute. Police said Long rammed his car into police cars and ignored officers' commands. They say Long was shot after making a threatening move with his hands.

State police said in a news release issued Saturday night that two rounds of ammunition, construction tools and items associated with illicit drugs were found in Long's car. Police were trying to arrest Long on a warrant charging him with rape, criminal confinement and domestic battery

The name of the officer who shot Long has not been released.
