The Palatine Polar Plunge was held Sunday at Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Palatine.

Temperatures hovered around 25 degrees during the event in support of Special Olympics with scantily clad people taking a flying leap into the frigid waters at Twin Lakes.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run and GEICO were also sponsors of the event.

While in Chicago, actor Vince Vaughn, pop star Lady Gaga, cast members of “Chicago Fire” and Special Olympics Chicago President Casey Hogan took part in the Chicago Polar Plunge at North Avenue Beach.
