Vikings finish commemoration of Black History Month

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have completed their online presentation of stories surrounding Black History Month.

The team website featured a daily video plus various articles throughout February commemorating the event, including poignant interviews with several black former players about their experiences with discrimination.

Former Vikings punter Greg Coleman talked about his peewee football team in Jacksonville, Florida, winning a division championship that qualified the players for a special game at the Gator Bowl stadium. They were barred from participating because of their color.

Former defensive end Jim Marshall recalled a stay in Atlanta with the Vikings when the hotel manager saw him get off the bus and tried to prevent the team from staying there. Later, the hotel bartender didn't want to serve him because of his color.
