Residents escape Lake Zurich house fire unharmed
Three Lake Zurich residents were able to safely escape a fire at their home overnight without injury, officials said.
The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department responded to a house fire at 593 Peachtree Lane shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday and found visible smoke coming from the first floor, according to a news release.
Officials found fire on the first floor and in the crawl space.
Because of the extreme temperatures, a MABAS box alarm was activated bringing in 12 other departments to help, according to the release.
All residents and pets evacuated the home safely before firefighters arrived, according to the release.
A member of the Metropolitan Emergency Support Services suffered an injury after slipping and falling at the scene and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, according to the release.
The cause of the fire and a dollar amount loss estimate had not yet been determined on Saturday evening, but officials said the home is uninhabitable.
The Algonquin, Barrington, Barrington-Countryside, Buffalo Grove, Countryside, Fox River Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Wauconda and Wheeling Fire Departments assisted the Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department, officials said.
