All about trains at Harper College

The 37th Annual High Wheeler Model Train Show is this weekend at Harper College in Palatine, featuring 20 model railroads and models from some of the best hobbyists in the Midwest.

On exhibit are models in the tiny "Z-scale" up to the popular garden sized "G-scale" and every step in between.

Modeling Masters will be demonstrating modeling skills and techniques. Vendors from local shops have thousands of hobby items for sale. Historical, technical and museum society representatives are available to discuss the legacy of the railroads that defined the Chicago area transportation network. Realistic prototype railroad operations run on the NW Trainmasters layout.

The event, which continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, is in Building M, the college Wellness and Sports Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for 65 and up, $2 for 5-12 years. For more information, visist www.highwheelertrainshow.com.
