Illinois football staffer sentenced to probation for DUI

URBANA, Ill. (AP) - A University of Illinois football staff member and son of the offensive coordinator has been sentenced to two years of court supervision after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Ryan Cubit was sentenced Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court. Court supervision is a type of probation.

The 32-year-old also must wear an alcohol-monitoring device for three months and was fined $1,000 and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

Cubit is the director of football student-athlete development for the Illinois football team and the son of offensive coordinator Bill Cubit.

Cubit pleaded guilty in January to misdemeanor driving under the influence after his arrest in Champaign in October.

According to The News-Gazette in Champaign (http://bit.ly/1EUpamG ), Cubit said Friday that he had made a mistake and was sorry.
