Catholic Consortium schools celebrate week of faith

The Catholic Consortium of Lake County Schools, made up of St. Mary of the Annunciation Elementary in Mundelein and Transfiguration Catholic Elementary and Frassati Catholic Academy, both in Wauconda, recently celebrated Catholic Schools week, which celebrates Catholic education, recognizing the strong link between Catholic education and faith, knowledge and service.

Critical to their call to be missionary disciples, Consortium schools collected new T-shirts and long underwear for PADS ministries throughout the week, and took up a collection for cereal at their Just for Fun Roller Skating party for the benefit of Holy Family Food Pantry in Waukegan.

Fr. Ron Gollatz, principal celebrant, gave an all-schools Mass for more than 400 students and their families at Transfiguration parish.

Fr. Jerry Jacob, pastor at St. Mary of the Annunciation; Fr. Ron Lewinski, president for mission of Consortium schools; and Fr. Juan Pablo, associate pastor at Transfiguration, were co-celebrants.

After Mass, students participated in an all-schools game show led by Roger Huner, a Consortium school parent.

The Consortium schools involve more than just the students. They are a place for the whole family, and join together in the spirit of faith, friendship and a belief that a strong academic program best prepares their sons and daughters for their highest potential.
