Blackhawks swap prospects with Toronto

With Monday's NHL trade deadline looming, the Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs agreed to swap minor league prospects on Thursday.

The Hawks acquired forward Spencer Abbott from Toronto in exchange for defenseman T.J. Brennan.

Abbott, 26, will report to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Abbott has recorded 127 points (37G, 90A) in 168 career AHL games over portions of four seasons with the Toronto Marlies. The Hamilton, Ont., native was tied for third on the Marlies with 24 points (7G, 17A) this season.

Brennan, 25, led the IceHogs with 36 points (9G, 27A) in 54 games played this season.
