Long, hard February? Not for DuPage photographers

Each week's DuPage County Neighbor section includes at least one entry in our Photo Finish photography contest. Our photo staff picks some of its favorite submissions to run each week and then one overall monthly winner.

This week's entries sum up our February.

Ken Olp of Wheaton, for example, froze a sample of the weather when he stopped on Feb. 5 on his way to work to photograph the fog over the DuPage River near Blackwell Forest Preserve.

"What caught my eye when driving by was all the ice-frosted branches along the river, and the fog over the water," he said.

In contrast, Todd A. Sherlock of Downers Grove made the most of the play of water and light at Graue Mill in Oak Brook on one of the rare sunny days we've had.

"I loved the reflections that produced a rainbow of color," he said.

And Angela Cichosz of Carol Stream captured the sentiment of the month when she aimed her macro lens at the petals on a bouquet that were crisscrossed and reminded her of a heart.

If you'd like to submit a photo for our contest, email it in .jpg format with at least 300 dpi resolution to dupagecontest@dailyherald.com. Include your name, address and a phone number, plus a description.

The monthly winner will receive a $50 gift certificate, good at PJ's Camera, Pickwick Place Plaza, 662 Roosevelt Road, Glen Ellyn.
