Elgin residents ask questions at Coffee with a Cop

More than 20 people attended the Elgin Police Department's third Coffee with a Cop session, held Wednesday morning at Big Apple Bagels on McLean Boulevard.

The program, founded and led by Elgin Police Commander Ana Lalley, allows residents to ask any and all questions of the officers.

"The ability to communicate directly with the community is great, and it's a chance for them to get to know the officers," Lalley said.

Questions ranged from traffic stops to concerns about local break-ins during the hourlong event.

"The conversation is all over the place, but mostly is about neighborhood policing," Lalley said.

Previous sessions of Coffee with a Cop have been held at Blue Box Cafe and also at the Elgin Artspace Lofts.
