Cook County confirms 15th measles case

The Cook County Department of Public Health confirmed another adult case of measles in the Northwest suburbs Wednesday, adding two more places of additional exposure to the public.

The two newly identified areas of potential exposure are LaRosita Laundromat at 1212 E. Dundee Road in Palatine, between 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, and Vista Clinic, 1585 N. Rand Road in Palatine, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.

The latest case raises to 14 the number of confirmed measles cases in suburban Cook County. The total rises to 15 with the inclusion of a single Chicago case, said Sean McDermott, director of communications for the Cook County Department of Public Health.

The suburban cases include three adults and 11 infants. Twelve of those cases are associated with the KinderCare Learning Center at 929 E. Palatine Road in Palatine.

The Chicago case also is linked to Palatine's KinderCare, raising the total number of cases associated with that facility to 13, McDermott said.
