Elgin committee holds Realtors' tour

More than 30 Realtors took a tour Tuesday morning designed to showcase the variety of residential neighborhoods in Elgin.

"It's to get people that don't know the area to get to know it," said event organizer Susan Angell-Case, an Elgin resident who works as a Realtor in St. Charles. "We have such great housing stock that you can be kind of urban, you can be suburban, you can choose old or new - and not everybody knows that."

Angell-Case is a member of the Enhancing Elgin committee, which is part of the Elgin Development Group, a division of the chamber that has a contract for economic development services with the city of Elgin.

Realtors came from Schaumburg, St. Charles, Naperville and other towns, Angell-Case said. This was the first residential Realtors' tour in Elgin in more than 10 years, she said. "It's all about quality of life, so we focus on residential real estate," she said.

The Enhancing Elgin committee is hoping to host more tours, possibly in conjunction with Elgin Area School District U-46, which is having two breakfasts for Realtors in April, and the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin, which will be hosting a commercial tour for Realtors, she said.

"We thought we might make this a series," she said.
