Campton Hills man charged in Delnor disturbance back in Kane County

The Campton Hills man accused of causing a ruckus that shut down Delnor Hospital Jan. 27, has been extradited from Lake County in Indiana, where he was arrested.

The Kane County online jail registry shows Justin Patzer was admitted at 9 p.m. Monday.

He appeared Tuesday before Kane County Judge Thomas Stanfa, who set bail at $270,000. His next court date is March 4.

Patzer, 30, faces charges of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, battery and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to police, Patzer's father was a patient at Delnor Hospital, and Patzer's brother-in-law was visiting him. Patzer and the relative had disagreed over the ownership and use of a vehicle, Geneva Police Cmdr. Julie Nash said. Patzer tried to choke the man, displayed a knife and threatened to kill someone, then pushed another person as he ran out of the room, police said. He then crashed into another vehicle while leaving the hospital grounds, police said.

The hospital campus was briefly locked down while police searched for Patzer.

He was arrested that night in Hammond.
