State Rep. Harris salutes Prospect Heights library 'Polish Storytime'

State Rep. David Harris, a Republican from Arlington Heights, presented a Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives to Prospect Heights Public Library executive director Alex Todd and his staff for their outstanding work in developing the "Polish Storytime" hour at the library.

"The library has done an excellent job in offering this program to the community," said Harris. "There is a large Polish community in our area and it's great to see the community working together to preserve a rich heritage that has become part of the American melting-pot here in Illinois."

The library staff, many of whom speak Polish, worked with the Polish families in the area to develop a time when children could enjoy stories, games, and songs in Polish, which is the primary language spoken in many of the children's' homes. The "Polish Storytime" hour helps preserve the sense of Polish heritage that the families enjoy.
