Palatine man arrested after drug raid

Palatine police seized more than a pound of marijuana, 2.5 grams of cocaine and other drugs Saturday during a raid at the home of a man now facing multiple felony charges.

Rick Michael Heinz, 23, of the 200 block of North Elmwood Avenue, was charged with six counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, and one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of firearm ammunition without a valid state Firearm Owners Identification card, as a result of the raid.

According to police, officers discovered the drugs - which also included 13 grams of psilocybin, 13 pills of methylphenidate, 1 pill of hydrocodone and 1 pill of morphine - along with nine digital scales, numerous plastic bags, and six rounds of .380 caliber ammunition while serving a search warrant on Heinz's residence at 6:20 p.m. Saturday.

Heinz appeared in court Monday, when a judge set his bail at $70,000. He is scheduled to return to court March 16.
