Fire earns third straight preseason shutout

The Chicago Fire played to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon in Portland, Oregon, in a preseason Simple Invitational match against Norwegian side Stabaek.

"We didn't play well today," Fire coach Frank Yallop said.

It was the third shutout for the Fire in three preseason matches, including two in England. The Fire has scored just once in those three matches, but Yallop said it's too early to be concerned about the lack of scoring.

New designated player David Accam played his first match for the Fire, leaving in the second half with a slight groin injury. Shaun Maloney, also signed in the off-season as a DP, left a few minutes later with a cramp.
