Spain's 'Polseres Vermelles' wins Int'l Emmy Kids Award

NEW YORK (AP) - Spain's "Polseres Vermelles" has won for best series at the International Emmy Kids Awards.

The Catalan TV show about friendship among teenagers with serious illnesses in a hospital ward was the source for the Fox series, "Red Band Society," that aired its last episode earlier this month after production was halted due to poor ratings.

Britain's "Mike the Knight" about a magical kingdom was honored as the best pre-school series at Friday night's awards ceremony at Chelsea Piers in New York City.

Other Kids Awards winners included Sweden's "Wild Kids" in the non-scripted entertainment category; Chile's "Con Que Suenas?" (What's Your Dream?) Season 2 for factual; France's "The Jungle Bunch to the Rescue" for animation, and the Netherlands' "Alles mag" (Anything Goes) for TV movie/mini-series.
