U-46 kindergarten rally rescheduled due to cold weather

Due to the cold weather, Elgin Area School District U-46 has rescheduled the kindergarten rally for Thursday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. at all elementary schools.

Parents and guardians should attend U-46's kindergarten rally if they plan to enroll their child in kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year.

Students must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2015 to be eligible.

The kindergarten rally is a pre-registration event. Parents and guardians should bring their child's birth certificate and provide two documents for the proof of residency form.

Parents can check www.u-46.org to see which documents are accepted for residency.

Parents or guardians who have questions about where their child will attend school can contact U-46's School and Community Relations office, (847) 888-5000, ext. 5003, or they can check on www.u-46.org.

Registration forms, immunization requirements and other informational materials will be distributed at the kindergarten rally.

The Illinois School Code requires kindergarten students to submit a report of a physical examination and the dates that certain immunizations were received in order to attend school. All immunizations must be recorded on the state approved examination form. Area physicians and all U-46 schools have the state-approved physical exam forms. The forms are also available on the district's website. Physical exam documents must be brought to the school on or before the first day of class.

U-46 has a First Day Exclusion policy for physical examinations and immunizations.

For more information about the Kindergarten Rally, visit www.u-46.org or call (847) 888-5000, ext. 6991.
