Author, diplomat, and attorney Bob Goff comes to Judson chapel

New York Times best-selling author Bob Goff will be the guest speaker during Judson University's chapel service at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, in Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. The event is free and open to the public.

Goff, who is recognized by the U.S. Department of State as a diplomat, is best known for his runaway best-selling book, "Love Does" (Thomas Nelson, 2012). In it, he humorously shares personal stories, adventures, and events that highlight the need for Christians to love with abandon. His easygoing, approachable style is infectious, often leaving readers in awe (especially when they see that he includes his cellphone number at the back of the book - just in case someone wants to call.)

By his own account, his life has been filled with many unexpected twists and turns. The man who was first rejected from law school is now the founding partner of Goff & DeWalt law firm in Washington, and he teaches law courses at both Pepperdine Law School and Point Loma Nazarene University in California. In 2002, he started Restore International, a nonprofit human rights organization that operates in Uganda, Somalia, and India, and he is the honorary Consul for the Republic of Uganda to the U.S.

Goff, who is a sought-after speaker, will share his insights with Judson students and those prospective students and parents who are visiting the campus for Preview Day.

"It is a privilege to team up alongside the Christian Ministry Department to host Bob Goff here at Judson," says University Ministries Director Chris Lash. "Many students have loved his book, 'Love Does,' and we are looking forward to meeting the man behind the stories and spiritual insights! "
