Illinois sees wind chills as low as -20 to -30
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Temperatures dipped as low as -14 in parts of Illinois with wind chills forecast between 20 and 30 degrees below zero.
The National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning through 12 p.m. on Thursday throughout much of Illinois. Early Thursday the temperature was -14 in Island Lake in McHenry County and Sycamore in DeKalb County. In Aurora the temperature was -13 and -8 at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, -9 in Effingham and -3 in Bloomington and Normal.
Chicago Public Schools canceled classes on Thursday due to the extreme cold. So did numerous other school districts. Chicago school officials say they anticipate classes resuming on Friday.
