Indianapolis man gets no prison time in fatal shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A plea agreement has been reached for a 26-year-old Indianapolis man charged with murder after fatally shooting his neighbor over a dog.

Albert Rogers won't serve any prison time after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated battery. He initially was charged with murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Josh Tucker.

According to court documents, both Rogers and Tucker were armed on June 5 during a confrontation, which ended with Tucker being fatally shot. Rogers claimed he acted in self-defense.

The documents state disagreements between the two men began May 29 when Rogers shot at Tucker's dog because he feared for his life. The dog wasn't injured.

The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1w0D7jw ) reports Rogers was sentenced to 10 years of home detention followed by one year of probation.
