Quincy day care operator cited by state in child's death

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has cited a Quincy daycare provider in connection to the July death of a 2-year-old child.

The Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/1A9Ymij ) reports the child died a day after being found in a daycare swimming pool. The daycare was operated by Patti Tipton, who was cited for neglect.

Tipton no longer provides daycare in her home and voluntarily surrendered her license.

The state review of Tipton was not a criminal investigation, and the citation will stay on her record for 50 years.

A message seeking comment was left at a phone number listed for Tipton.
