Two more charged with Wheeling robbery, shooting
Two more teenagers face armed robbery and aggravated battery charges stemming from a soured drug deal that concluded with a shooting last week in the 400 block of McHenry Road in Wheeling.
A Cook County judge on Thursday set bail at $500,000 for Charles Henderson, 17, of the 1200 block of Dorothy Drive, Palatine, and $200,000 for Jordan Cruz, 17, of the 300 block of Glasgow Lane, Schaumburg.
Additionally, Judge Joseph Cataldo ordered the teens surrender any firearms and forbid them from contacting the two male witnesses.
Also charged in the robbery/shooting were Jasmine Garcia, 19, of the 300 block of Glasgow Lane in Schaumburg; Rakwan Crosby, 17, of the 1600 block of Larson in Roselle; and Antonio Collins, 17, of the 500 block of Gunderson in Carol Stream.
Police say the defendants contacted a man about purchasing marijuana but really intended to rob him instead. Two men showed up and one of the defendants reportedly pointed a gun at them and announced a robbery. After an exchange of gunfire, one of the men was hit in the chest, police said.
If convicted, the defendants could face up to 30 years in prison.
