Four men accused in Gurnee-area home invasion held in Lake County jail on bail

Four men accused of invading a house near Gurnee remain held in Lake County jail in lieu of bail of at least $400,000, authorities said Thursday.

Javier Montes, 21, and Eduardo Solis-Marcelo, 26, both of Waukegan, and Jose L. Villegas, 28, of Park City, have been charged with home invasion, residential burglary, unlawful use of a weapon by a street gang member, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, authorities said. Their bail was set at $500,000 each, officials said.

Pablo F. Calix, 19, of Park City, is charged with the same crimes, but is held on $400,000 bail, said Cynthia Vargas, of the Lake County State's Attorneys Office. The lower bail is because Calix has no prior criminal charges on his record, Vargas said.

All four could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison if found guilty of the most serious home invasion charge, authorities said.

Lake County sheriff's police say the four men invaded a house about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday in the 12000 block of Harrison Avenue in unincorporated Lake County near Gurnee.

After they left the house, a caller provided deputies with a description of the vehicle involved in the home invasion. A vehicle matching the description was spotted at Stearns School Road and Dilley's Road in Gurnee.

Deputies caught up to the vehicle as it pulled into a driveway on the 5300 block of Conifer Lane.

Two men were immediately detained at the scene, authorities said, but two others ran into the surrounding subdivision.

They were later captured by sheriff's deputies and Gurnee police officers, authorities said.

All four are due back in court for a preliminary hearing March 12.
