Pelicans sign guard Douglas to second, 10-day contract

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Pelicans have signed veteran backup point guard Toney Douglas to his second 10-day contract.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1AG5O6S) Douglas, a 6-foot-2 guard, was signed to his first 10-day contract Feb. 4 and the team extended the offer Wednesday.

Douglas has played in three games, averaging 9.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals. In last week's 106-93 loss to the Indiana Pacers before the Pelicans headed on the All-Star break, Douglas played 25 minutes and scored 14 points and had seven assists.

Prior to the Pelicans, Douglas played in the Chinese Basketball Association with the Jiangsu Dragons.
