Peoria courthouse deals with water damage

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - The Peoria County Courthouse is open for business in spite of water damage in several areas due to a broken pipe.

County officials told the Journal Star (http://bit.ly/1EoyD5j ) that repair work continued in the three courtrooms and areas of the circuit clerk's office damaged by water.

Assistant County Administrator Scott Sorrel said Tuesday that the most serious work should take another day or two.

Criminal cases are being shuffled for the moment to avoid the damaged courtrooms.

In the clerk's office Deputy Clerk Pat Risen said about 1,000 case files were affected. They've been sent to a document-drying company.

The pipe broke Saturday.
