American Cancer Society to hold Black and White Ball

NBC 5 News anchor Rob Stafford will emcee the sixth annual American Cancer Society Black and White Ball this month in Lombard.

In the past five years, the Black and White Ball has raised more than $2.2 million to support the American Cancer Society's mission to help people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back to ensure a world with less cancer.

"We are thrilled to have Rob Stafford emcee our event this year," said Clare Thibodeaux, chairwoman of the DuPage Regional Leadership Board for the society.

"The Black and White Ball's popularity has grown over the years with generous support from business and philanthropic leaders throughout the suburban Chicago area. Supporters can be proud that the money raised enables the American Cancer Society to continue to invest in research, free programs and services that help cancer patients and their families."

The American Cancer Society Black and White Ball is one of the premier suburban events of its kind in the state, offering networking opportunities for more than 400 of the Chicago area's business leaders, hospital and health care executives and guests.

The Roaring Twenties-themed event includes a silent auction, dinner, live auction and entertainment from 5:30 to midnight Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, 70 Yorktown Shopping Center, Lombard.

The Galaxie Girls will start the entertainment with a dance act. The Flat Cats, a Chicago-based swinging jazz band, will play jazz, Motown and pop tunes throughout the night. Tickets are $250 per person.
