Karam joins Chip Ganassi Racing Teams for IndyCar opener

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Sage Karam will drive in the IndyCar season opener for Chip Ganassi.

He'll drive the No. 8 Chevrolet on March 29 in the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Karam finished ninth in his series debut last season at the Indianapolis 500. Karam turns 20 on March 5 and will become the youngest driver ever in the series for team owner Chip Ganassi. The former Indy Lights Champion was the youngest in history to win the title at 18 years old in 2013.

Karam signed a multi-year deal last season as a CGRT development driver which began with the 2014 Indianapolis 500. He drove in a car fielded jointly by CGRT and Dreyer & Reinbold Kingdom Racing.
