Lindsay Souvannarath grew up in a nice Geneva neighborhood, graduated from college last year with a double major in English and creative writing, and had a story published in the school's nationally known literary magazine. Elgin man accused of making threats with gun
An Elgin man will appear in bond court this morning on drugs and weapons charges after police say he threatened someone with a gun over a noise complaint. Paul Sandoval, 21, was arrested after the incident Sunday and charged with possession of a firearm by a street gang member, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Fire damages Batavia garage
Batavia fire officials continue to investigate the cause of a fire that damaged a two-car detached garage yesterday afternoon. The blaze started just before 1:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of South Batavia Avenue and did about $30,000 in damage, officials said. Full story.
Glen Ellyn panel presses pause on suggested bag fee
A plan to require some Glen Ellyn retailers to charge customers a fee for disposable bags used at checkout has been delayed. Complaints from residents about the 5-cent per bag fee led the village's environmental commission to delay presenting it to the village board. Full story.

Blackhawks Goalie Corey Crawford is settling back in after an injury earlier in the season that threw off his play. Slowly but surely, though, the quickness, dexterity and form has returned.
