Three charged in Wheeling shooting
Three people have been charged in light of a drug deal gone bad, Wheeling police said Tuesday.
Jasmine Garcia, 19, Rakwan Crosby, 17, and Antonio Collins, 17, have all been charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm. Crosby and Collins were charged as adults.
Police responded to the 400 block of McHenry Road on Feb. 10 after a report of two people with gunshot wounds, according to a news release.
Police said the teens had reached out to the victim to buy cannabis but planned to rob the dealer.
One of the offenders pointed a handgun at the victim and "announced a robbery,"
gunfire was exchanged, and the victim was shot in the chest, police said.
The incident is still under investigation. The teens' next scheduled court date is Wednesday.
