Lombard Fitness Fair offers fun, exercise, entertainment on Feb. 28

Area residents can get free health screenings, see stage performances and even enter jump rope and hula-hoop competitions at the Healthy Lombard Fitness February Fair.

The fair will feature health-related displays, free health screenings, the opportunity to participate in interactive presentations and a raffle from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Yorktown Center mall, Highland Avenue and Butterfield Road, Lombard.

Visitors will receive a sticker sheet when they arrive with 16 spaces. As they visit an exhibit they will receive one sticker for their sheet. When they have collected 16 of the possible 30 stickers, they can enter their name into the raffle for prizes such as a set of Beats headphones, an itek Activity Tracker, a collection of exercise equipment and more.

The fair also will feature stage performances. Demonstrations will include Ageless Grace, soccer moves by members of the Chicago Red Stars soccer team, Sky Center Martial Arts and Zumba with Lisa. Audiences will be encouraged to participate in several presentations as well as in jump rope and hula-hoop competitions.

At 1 p.m., Healthy Lombard, with the assistance of Red Stars mascot Supernova, will present Health Hero Awards to four individuals and the Westin Hotel. The awards, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lombard in recognition of Kiwanis International Centennial celebration in 2015, honor people who have made healthy lifestyle changes in 2014 and the Westin, which is working in partnership with Healthy Lombard through a grant to make the workplace healthier for its employees.
