Schaumburg Accepting Nominations for Volunteer of the Year

The Village of Schaumburg is currently seeking nominations for Volunteer of the Year.

Nominations for Schaumburg's Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer Organization of the Year and Youth Individual Volunteer will be accepted through Wednesday, March 25. Nominees can represent social, civic, religious, community, school and medical organizations. For-profit and political organizations are excluded. Nomination materials are available on the Prairie Center for the Arts website at www.prairiecenter.org.

"Volunteers are such an essential part of local government and they are responsible for contributing to the high-level of services and events we're able to provide to residents," said Schaumburg Special Events Coordinator Roxane Benvenuti. "The Village of Schaumburg would not be the same without our volunteers and the work they perform for the village."

Award recipients will be selected by a panel of judges from nominations received from residents and the business community. Recipients will be honored at the annual Volunteer of the Year luncheon that will take place Thursday, April 9 at Chandler's, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

Chris Smith, Executive Director of HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) will serve as the keynote speaker at this year's ceremony. Smith focuses on building initiatives, financial oversight corporate outreach, new partnerships, consulting and training of volunteers.
