Dozens of vehicles crash on slippery Chicago expressway

CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois State Police say more than 30 vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash amid slippery conditions on a major Chicago expressway.

A series of vehicles slammed into each other after the initial accident occurred after 10 a.m. on the Kennedy Expressway near the downtown Ohio exit on Sunday.

Police say about a dozen people were hospitalized for injuries, but none appears to be life threatening.

Firefighters temporarily closed inbound traffic as they cleared the accident scene.

A light snow began to fall in Chicago earlier Sunday. Weather officials reported low visibility and icy conditions in some area.
