Oakton offers girls-only robotic workshops

Girls aged 8 and older are encouraged to learn the basics of building and programming robots by enrolling in special Saturday workshops in Des Plaines.

Attendees will work in teams to create machines, explore automation and robotic technology, and get a chance to take their math and science skills to a higher level. The program is sponsored by Oakton Community College's Center for Promoting STEM (science, technology, education, and mathematics) and Alliance for Lifelong Learning.

Introduction to Robotics (KID S01 01) meets Saturdays Feb. 21 and 28. Robotics Take II (KID S02-01) takes place Saturdays March 7 and 14. The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road (Room 1550). The cost for each two-week session is $50.
