Warhol's love of parties on display in SIU exhibit

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Andy Warhol's love of documenting celebrity, parties and popular culture is on display at Southern Illinois University's museum.

The exhibit is titled "Celebrity and Scintillation: Andy Warhol's Party."

It features 10 large Warhol screen prints donated to the museum last year by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. A selection of 155 Warhol photographs is also on display.

The exhibit at the Carbondale campus runs through April 15.

Museum director Dona Bachman says the theme for the exhibit came from one piece in particular, a print titled "After the Party," which shows the glasses and dishes that remain after a party.

She tells the (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan (http://bit.ly/1FCsinJ ) the works also have incredible range, pointing to prints of children's author Hans Christian Andersen and Native Americans.
