Suburban Chicago teen stuck, killed by truck

NEW LENOX, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago teenager was struck and killed by a semi-trailer as he crossed the street outside a high school.

Authorities say the unidentified 17-year-old of Manhattan was crossing U.S. Route 30 outside Lincoln-Way Central High School around 10 a.m. Friday when he was struck. New Lenox police officials say it appears the boy either tripped, slid, or fell in front of the semi, which could not stop in time.

The teen was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police said no traffic citations or charges were filed against the driver of the truck, who was not immediately identified.
