Bartlett Nature Center programs available for children of all ages

There are a variety of programs offered for ages 3 to adult at the Bartlett Nature Center. The programs all have a theme but have additional benefits that are age specific.

Programs in the 3- to 5-year-old age range will help your child with expanding their world learning about nature, the environment and the animals within it. They will utilize small motor skills when working on projects and crafts, large motor skills for outdoor hikes, socialization, and independence. Children attending must be toilet independent.

Programs in the 5- to 8-year-old age range will focus on expanding the knowledge that children have about the environment, nature and animals. They will be able to use their existing experience and apply it to new situations that are presented. Creativity will be a focus for the craft projects. Children will be able to form new bonds with other participants and learn about respecting differences in each other through sharing of ideas and projects.

Programs in the 9- to 14-year-old age range will further develop your child's love of nature, the environment and animals. The programs will include more independent-type projects within the class, including working as small groups or with partners.

Youth will be able to use their existing knowledge and apply it to new situations. Programs may include very specific skill sets (like photography), where youth can gain new knowledge to be applied to school or their current and future hobbies.

The Bartlett Nature Center is at 2054 W. Stearns Road, Bartlett, within the James "Pate" Philip State Park Visitor Center. For details, call (847) 608-3100 and press "2" when prompted.
